We all see cardboard boxes being used extensively around us all the time. From the cereal box to the packaging boxes that we use for shifting, the cardboard boxes have come to dominate the market today quite extensively. But things always hadn’t looked so promising for these boxes.
How did it all begin?
The first ever paper box that was remotely similar to cardboard boxes is accredited to M. Treverton & Son. The company came up with the design in 1817 in England. It is believed that for the first time around the company didn’t make a corrugated by rather a paperboard box. It was nothing like the boxes we have today but was certainly worth the hype. Later, however, Germany came up with Cardboard Boxes: similar to the ones we use today.
The concept of bringing together pre-cut pieces of cardboard was invented by Robert Gair in 1890. Being a maker of paper-bags, he discovered that by simply cutting and then reassembling the papers he could turn them into a box.
The idea was later applied to cardboard when it became popular around the country by the beginning of 20th century. This was however just the beginning. Soon afterward cereal companies were using the printed cardboard boxes to sell and market their cereals. Kellogg ’s is believed to be the first company to use the cardboard Packaging Boxes for food labeling and marketing. However, the first corrugated cardboard box was manufactured by 1895 in the US. Since then the cardboard boxes wholesale has seen no setback.
